“Contact Us via email, message” – does not really go successful on all the sites

You probably have seen the “Contact Us” link on almost all the business websites. Most sites do have accurate information and some do not. Unfortunately, people start complaining only when the things don’t work and that usually happen when people need some information and the available contact sources do not let the customers to reach them. Few months ago I looked at the TTD (Tirupati devastanam) and just recently 3 other banking institutions – they do have the contact us page and listed bunch of names, email addreses, phone numbers, fax numbers etc – however, sad part is a lot of them do not work. I have sent several emails enquiring about something, couple of them were delivered but no response and lot of emails were bounced.

Just recently i tried a website of a banking institution in Bangalore and sent an email to 3 of those addresses. I received a bounced email

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I’m afraid I wasn’t able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I’ve given up. Sorry it didn’t work out.

Now that my email bounced, I tried to send the message directly on contact us page – and it returned an HTTP500 error page on submit.

I believe ”little things like” keeping the current information on ContactUs would help tremendously to a lot of customers.  for a better Customer Service?
