Back from Udupi…

We have been to Udupi for a day. After several tries / debate on traveling by air/train/bus/private vehicle, we chose to go by Bus. We contacted VRL and got 2 tickets on sleeper and not the seats. We thought of trying this for another experience that we had never travelled on such a bus. We got on the bus on thursday night, and felt it better until we crossed the bangalore border. We then felt the roller coaster rides everytime driver passed other vehicles and with a peculiar honks all through.  Since drive to Udupi goes through hill side, curves made us move between window and aisle several times. Road humps threw us all around. We were thinking of changing it to seats for the way back.

We went around Udupi and  Ambalapady for a day. We got back on the same bus for the night on a return trip. This time though, we climbed up the seats onto the sleeper section. within an hour or so we tried to sleep. Though I woke up few times but the return travel was not that bad. We did not feel any jumps and slept well. I think this was because we were on the center rows between wheels as opposed to the last seats while going towards udupi.

It was a different experience in a way… our 3yr old enjoyed the ride too… 🙂

With the number of days remaining during this visit, I don’t think we will be able to make it to Mysore as we had planned before.
