Six Sigma and Lean six sigma

I am currently reading a book titled Lean Six sigma. I had heard about Six Sigma before, although i haven't read much about it before. I am now curious to know about the differences between the Six Sigma and the Lean Six sigma. Searching for Six Sigma, I stumbled across this site – iSixSigma – and has great amount of articles and information about six sigma. I figured – this might be the starting point for me to learn more about six sigma.

Do you have any other resources handy that you would like to recommend for me to learn the bird's eye view of information about sixSigma? do let me know – leave a comment here.

  1. My Curious Cat Management Improvement Six Sigma section includes links to web sites, articles and books. I have tried to highlight the best resources there. “Leading Six Sigma” by Ronald Snee and Roger Hoerl is excellent.

  3. There is actually a great website out there that delves into lean six sigma, six sigma and enhancing employee performance – a company called Oriel, Inc – http://www.orielinc.com/cons.sixsigma.cfm. This just may be the bird’s eye view you pursue…

  4. Hi Ram, Six Sigma as a deployment methodology has matured a lot. An important part of the learning process is to actually take up a project and get certified. There are many different levels of certification. May I ask whether you are interested to deploy in some particular organization?

  5. Thank you, Sundareswaran
I haven’t used this method for long now and slipped my mind. I would have to read up on these again.

  6. Hi Ram,

I’m reading a book entitled, “The Six Sigma Leader” by Peter S. Pande. It’s been helpful in outlining the methodology that a “Six Sigma Leader” uses in managing corporate change projects.

Having been through a few mergers in the past 2 years, I can look back and see how we might have done things differently, using these methods.

    Best regards,

    David
